In the last week, Manchester University has named the new line-up of contractors it will use to deliver projects worth up to £10m. Graham Construction, Kier and Willmott Dixon are among the panel of firms expected to share a programme of work worth up to £175m. The University is planning an ambitious programme of over £1bn of improvements to its main campus over the next 6 years.
The investment into education has also been boosted by overseas investors in the last year, equating to over £1bn being put in to Manchester’s infrastructure, residential and commercial areas.
Employment in the city is also forecast to increase by a further 4.3 pc over the next five years, which will continue to fuel the lively residential market where demand from the 2.5 million strong population already significantly outweighs supply.
The Northern Powerhouse vision has already delivered strong results with over 8,000 new jobs created over the past four years.
Manchester continues to push figures as occupancy rates are as high as 98pc along with the average annual yields remaining the highest in the UK at 7.8pc.
